Picture Post. CSR Book and educational project latest.

My project has a CSR charity book.
All royalty payments go directly to ROKPA

The initial draft of the book was written in Red Palm hostel. Sofie (originally from Alor Star) and Tilo (Leipzig) were both associated with Red Palm. Here we are in the Pavillion, KL.
Tilo's dad Claus did the illustrations for the book.
Here we are celebrating Tilos wedding to Curtney (in Leipzig).

To read the story behind the story please click Here.

My most recent attempt to get the project off the ground was a letter to the new Chairman of Proton.
Here I am shaking his hand at ASLI Automotive conference in 2010. Tun Mahathir was the Keynote speaker.
I presented my project on stage with his Son, and Tengku Mahaleel.
I am happy to say, I have lost some weight since this photo!
I'm off later, to attend a spin class. My local GYM4ALL gave me a free membership, they were so impressed with my efforts.

I still have the upmost confidence that the MUM project will kick off sooner rather than later.

Tun Mahathir, new boss of Lotus and Proton

I see from the Malaysian press that Lotus and Proton have a new Chairman.

I met him personally at ASLI Automotive conference 2010.

I presented my proposal on stage with his Son and Tengku Mahaleel.

Hopefully, his new appointment will be a plus for Proton and Lotus. It would be nice if he adopted my proposal.
Both Lotus and Proton need to do something different. My proposal is different. And in my biased opinion it would be highly successful.

Just what the Doctor ordered so to speak!

HIRE ME.

Today is the first day of ASLI auto conference 2013

I have attended the last two ASLI auto conferences.
This year, I have no budget!
Many thanks to Kenanga Simon, who was very helpful during the whole conference, as was the whole ASLI team.

The keynote speaker, ex PM, Dr. Mahathir was and is the Keynote speaker.
Here is a picture of me shaking his hand at the 2010 event.

I presented with the ex CEO of Proton Tengku (Prince) Mahaleel, and Dr. Mahathir's son, Datuk Mokhzani.

I'm still annoying some of the people in these pictures regarding my dream project...
Hopefully, my patience will be rewarded!
Here is a Bloomberg video featuring Datuk Mokhzani. I have to say, he was polite, but showed little real interest in me or my proposal.

Petronas and Group Lotus educational partners.

I was browsing the web. I found an old Lotus Engineering article.
http://www.autoworld.com.my/v2/news/nb_details.asp?awReviewID=551&awCatID=RT.ATC.CAR.NW

The article was written in 2001. At this time the University of Petronas had an agreement with Lotus.

UTP and LotusIn a related developed Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Lotus have joined forces in an industrial partnership that will spearhead a new technology transfer relationship between the two organisations.

The partnership between UTP (one of the leading academic and technology institutions in the ASEAN region) and Lotus, will include the following:

- Joint research programmes such as Advanced combustion, Optical diagnostics and Active valvetrain;
- Industrial placements at Lotus for UTP students and staff;
- Technical papers, presentations and journal publications;
- Advanced engineering lecture programme by Lotus;

"By pooling resources from Lotus and UTP, we have a great opportunity to stretch the boundaries of research for the car of the future. I can see the scope within these two skilled teams to research into safer, more efficient and more advanced vehicles to take the car not just 5 years ahead but well into the next decade and beyond," said Mr Wood.

Mr Wood is in Malaysia as part of a team visiting local universities and presenting the ‘Lotus Engineering Roadshow’. The event was also presented at Proton’s premises in Shah Alam today and attended by Lord Sainsbury, the British Minister of Science & Technology, who also took the opportunity to visit the factory.

I visited UTP some years ago and met with it's CEO. I didn't know that there was official co-operation between Lotus and Petronas.

Petronas and DRB-Hicom both have private Universities. Petronas have a huge Motorsport budget.

They could make my vision a reality.  I hope they do!

Group Lotus need a miracle...Thursday is Proton Day.

I read an article today:

No Lotus for Sarah

Tengku Mahaleel new Proton/Group Lotus Chairman. Good. (I hope!)

TODAY 10 Feb 12 the MD of DRB-Hicom denies this report.
Click here for the Sun Daily report.

"It was never suggested. I don't know where the name (Tengku Mahaleel) came from. It was never from DRB-Hicom," Mohd Khamil told reporters after the signing ceremony between International College of Automotive (ICAM) and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) here.

Tengku Mahaleel is the new Chairman of Proton. By default that includes Group Lotus.

Here is a picture of me sharing the stage with him at the ASLI Auto conference.

Publicly, he said that many entrepreneurs would be very interested in my proposal.

Maybe, he can now endorse me, and the proposal with DRB-Hicom. My proposal dovetails with the Motorsport profile both Proton and Lotus have promoted in recent years.

I'm sick to death of hearing what Group Lotus can't do. Maybe this will now change.

The last sentence wasn't aimed at the present Group CEO. He hasn't been proactive in supporting this initiative. However, I feel that some people are more interested in themselves and their inner circle of friends than doing the right thing.

MUM is the right thing. I know I'm biased!

I participated in the ASLI Auto conference. Presented MUM. Attended the KLIMS KL Auto Show.

I just spent two days at the ASLI Auto conference. I got to rub shoulders with Malaysia's movers and shakers. I appreciate the opportunity to present my proposal to an audience who may be actually be able to move it forward.
I presented with Tengku Mahaleel, who took centre stage, and SIC chairman Dato Mokhzani, or Dato Mokzee as Tengku Mahaleel referred to him.

Apparently, I made the evening new on the first day TV3. I had an interesting time. Lets see what happens.
Here I'm shaking hands with the major mover and shaker, Tun Mahathir (Dato Mokzee's dad). He was gracious enough to have his photo taken with me.
I have to say Tun Mahathir obviously has an influential circle of friends. Seen here with Hilary (at another event I hasten to add).

Many thanks to Kenanga of ASLI for being so supportive.
The KLIMS Auto show was interesting. I'm glad that Malaysia can hold one. Sadly the UK has missed out in the last couple of years.
I moderated a couple of the ASLI Sessions:
Session 3 : Green Technology (Matthias Gelber - The greenest Man on the planet - was very entertaining and informative).
I sat beside Dato Zainal MD of Proton. He was very composed, and comes across very well.

Session 4 NAP (National Auto Policy.) I was sat beside the new MD of Perodua Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh. He had only been in the job 70 days. Once again he was very pleasant.
Tengku Mahaleel was a handful. He went over his presentation time, and got gonged several times!

I presented in session 7 Motorsport potential and promise:
Thankfully, I let my video do most of the talking!
I made up a short powerpoint from my webpage which I presented afterwards. I am capable of confident public speaking. I was disappointed with myself for not practicing more before the event.

Neither of my fellow participants had official presentations. Tengku Mahaleel invited some of his friends to the function. He got them to ask him questions about the old days, and how cheap it is to race at grassroots level... (Cheap is a relative thing... I don't think Tengku and his friends are from working class backgrounds).
Tengku Mahaleel received good feedback for his efforts. (10/10 from some people).Dato Mokhzani spoke off the cuff. He is chairman of the Sepang F1 circuit. He was polite, and answered questions from the floor in a straightforward manner.

All in all a very pleasant couple of days. Alex Yoong should try and make an appearance next year.

Many thanks to Hanis and Herry for the support on the day! Plus Tilo for graphics on the video.
A special thank you to Armin for letting me borrow a few pic from his blog:
